Splash Day was great fun! The children loved playing the water games out side.
We dissected crabs this week. The students learned about exoskeletons, and how they breathe through their gills. Crabs have 10 legs, and can grow a new one if one is broken off.
Please check out the summer review black lines on line for math. Our suggested summer reading list is also on line with graphic organizers the students are familiar with using. The students have been especially interested in non fiction fact finding texts.
In Math we have worked with elapsed time. They also did this with temperature. The goal is to know where to begin on the clock, and count by fives, from that point, until you have reached the new time. For example: If it is 10:00, what time will it be in 20 minutes. If it is 68 degrees now, what temperature will it be if it becomes 20 degrees warmer.
I will send home the Handwriting Without Tears alphabet and line orientation for the students to refer to, with their writing practice this summer. I encourage them to write about their many different experiences. Reminder: Aquarium Field Trip is Thursday May 26th, please have students wear their Commotion in the Ocean t-shirts with jean shorts. They can also wear them on Tuesday, May 31st for our end of the year party.
Sorry, My blog was done today due to graduation tomorrow and 10 people staying at my house!
